Why should you use a wetting agent? At times pinholes are miniscule to such an extent that water has a hard time reaching the conductive substrate underneath, particularly on thicker coatings when the water must penetrate further into a pinhole to get to the substrate. In these cases, surface inspectors will utilize a surfactant (wetting agent) to bring down the surface tension of the water, allowing the solution to better penetrate the pinhole.
